I don't know why, but I seem to be getting these strange edge artifacts in the
flattened surface in this hemisphere (I've flattened others before without
getting this artifact). Before saving, it looks just fine. But after I save and
open the spec file again, you can see the edge

I was wondering what software people have used in their labs for mapping fMRI
data onto surfaces and getting the alignment done. If Caret can do it, I'm
still unclear on how to turn .img/.hdr or .mat files into .paint files view on
them.
The following are a few technical questions
of the head this is called and if it is
filled with CSF or air? To get a sense of the distortion it causes, you can
look at the two zoomed images attached.
