Thanks for the response. An outsiders opinion is equally important (I
probably should have sent this to cas-users) as they are the ones that
eventually use the software!
It looks like we'll be releasing CAS 3.1.1 under the new BSD license.

We're currently using the old BSD license. We should probably update to the
new BSD license (which isn't quite so new anymore) which removes the
advertising clause but is otherwise the same. Anyone have any objections to
this?

Sounds good to me. Consider my paltry couple dozen lines of code in
JAASAuthenticationHandler a complete donation, and feel free to change
the license at will.
