Hi Tom and Zhiwei I think I managed to replicate your problem(s). It seems tmpfs is not being mounted correctly, which also explains your ntpd problems. The kernel then falls-back in a failsafe mode with root mounted ro. I suspect you have an old kernel without tmpfs support (see my email
