Back in the late 70's or early 80's (???) we had a female TOWHEE spend
the entire winter walking in from the neighbors every day (they had very
good protective vegetation) to feed around our feeders. She disappeared
when the weather warmed the following spring. We live just off Mitchell
St.
I looked for the Snowy Owl at Tschache Pool at first light this
morning and then in the Mucklands and the Main Pool, all without
success. The Montezuma CBC is happening today, so maybe someone will
happen across it while counting for that. If anyone does see it or
hear any reports, please post as
Adult BALD EAGLE over my yard and beach about 2 PM today (Monday). It soared
around and around overhead for a while then headed north; came back down later
and flew south.

We've had a Northern Shrike hanging out in the field north west of the corner
of E Miller and Nelson Rds in Danby. We saw it yesterday and followed it for a
while without very good looks. But today it appeared as we were driving up
Nelson, it sat close to the road on a hay bale for a while
For the past few months we have occasionally heard what I think can best be
described as insistent squawking by our back door during the evening. I think
it sounds like a bird. It seems to be coming from a large lilac bush near our
back door. Since it's always dark when it happens I haven't
A couple of people have suggested this might be a squirrel. Grey squirrels make
a sound that seems to be close, but then I checked the sound flying squirrel
sounds and they seem really close (based on memory). I wonder if there are 2
living in one of our bluebird houses. I thought they were
