Hi all,
I just had a gorgeous SHORT-EARED OWL flying through the Target and YMCA
parking lots in Ithaca. It eventually landed on the ground. It may be worth
checking this spot at sunset tonight.

For those who have forgotten, snow geese can be taken 'til 15 April 2014.
I just watched a couple hundred Canadas spiral down onto Mill Pond. They came
in from east of us where they usually spend much of the days in farm fields. I
suspect they heard gunshots somewhere or maybe sporting
My friend saw two mature Bald Eagles this morning around 10:30 am in
Montour Falls, right off 224 flying low up the creek. Yesterday we were
in Montezuma Preserve and saw hundreds if not thousands of snow geese in
the early afternoon.

Late afternoon yesterday, we saw both adult Bald Eagles out of the nest, one
was perched in a nearby tree, while the other hunted in the fields on the other
side of Route 90. When the hunter returned s/he sat on the nest edge and
seemed to be feeding someone.

2:30 Reading more reports of birding the Tioughnioga, I decided to try an hour
or two (more like two) of the river this afternoon, after a quick ride out to
Foster Moore Road (outside of Homer) to see if Chris Wood's Lapland Longspurs
might still be there. No luck finding
