Ann Mitchell & I met Mike Wasilco, who is high in the DEC chain of command at
Montezuma, shortly after he posted the report of 4 Wilson's Phalaropes.
Unfortunately this was also shortly after a Merlin had chased them off. Mike
volunteered that, lacking a field guide and a scope at the time, he
I've had two in the past week-- one last week circling over downtown
Watkins Glen (seen), and one today at Shindagin Hollow (heard-- yay!).

Pectoral Sandpiper, 1 Baird's Sanpipers,and a juvenile Long-billed Dowitcher
along with lots of yellowlegs. They were at the NE corner of the pond just

Good birding,

Hi,
This morning from 10 AM till about 10:45 there was a nice movement of warblers
at the Park preserve, Baldwin tract on Irish Settlement Road, Dryden. Just in
from the entrance, around the info board, were:
Chestnut sided
Bay breasted
Redstart
Magnolia
Prairie
Common yellowthroat
Plus:
Towhee
An adult bald eagle was flying low above the intersection of 79 and Lois Lane
10 mins ago as I left for work, flapping then circling to gain elevation, as if
it had just taken off from a nearby perch.
