Near von Engeln Preserve, the first decidedly female robin I have seen this
year. There have been a few small groups of male robins on Hile school rd east
and west of Ed hill rd and sometimes briefly in my yard but no females.
Also a bluebird singing rather faintly near one of our nest boxes
All of a sudden the 400+ redheads and their aqua allies I was watching on the
lake from my kitchen started zoom-swimming back-and-forth, with some of them
flying up and landing nearby, only to swim rapidly back & forth.
This rapid motion on the water continued & soon I saw an immature bald

It is being dredged supposedly to prevent flooding of Myers Park and nearby
houses. I do not believe work like this actually works to prevent ice pile-up
and subsequent flooding, but nobody listened to me (& the two others on the
Friends of salt point committee that were against
Any word on why Salmon Creek is being dredged? Are there plans for boating in
the creek? Are there houses at risk of flooding? I wonder how this will affect
marsh and gravel bar habitat.
