"The Audubon Mural Project:

Where Birds Meet Art"

The Chemung Valley Audubon Society meets on November 17 at 7:00 p.m. in the
West End Room at Appleridge, 168 Miller St., Horseheads, NY. All are welcome to
attend to learn about local birds, the society's projects, and how to become
involved. Appleridge is wheelchair accessible. Online viewing by Zoom is also
available with a request to windingwayho...@aol.com.

A 7:00 p.m. Bird Identification Workshop by Bill Ostrander is followed by a
brief business meeting at 7:30. Up next is "The Audubon Mural Project: Where
Birds Meet Art" with Avi Gitler, who through his gallery Gitler & ______ has
partnered with the project for eight years. Meeting us on a Zoom call, he will
lead a virtual tour of outdoor murals showing birds perched on doors, walls and
security gates throughout New York City while introducing us to artists who
created them. The project is a public-art initiative of the National Audubon
Society, celebrating birds amid the risks that climate change poses to both
birds and people. Commissioned artists bring a broad range of styles and life
experience—and lots of creativity—to their work, now numbering 100 murals and
representing 138 bird species.

Hope to see you, either in-person or by Zoom!
