We have a goldfinch with an injured or infected eye who has been visiting our feeders. Last week the eye looked cloudy, but at this point all the feathers on that side of her face look clumped together, and the eye can't be seen. It seems to be getting worse.
In addition to being heart-wrenching, I am curious if it could be some sort of contagious conjunctivitis, or if it is just an injury. I recall a while back reading something about conjunctivitis in house finches, perhaps? Does anyone have any info or insight on this? -- Cayugabirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/cayugabirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/Cayugabirds 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/CAYU.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
