>From my bedroom window, at 9 a.m., I could look 1/2 mi. down to the lake & see
>thousands of snow geese suddenly rising from the ice, swirling 'round &
>'round, higher & higher, many going south, some coming east over our house but
>most settling back down onto the ice. Thrilling sight.

Last evening at 6 p.m. many were settling onto nearby farm fields. Lovely, even
tho' I know they are a plague to farmers & on the tundra. Becky said she talked
to 2 hunters near her place who had hunted all afternoon & managed to shoot
only 2 snows. I saw a field that had at least 200 decoys set in rows in a
square shape around a blind. Those hunters should know geese don't congregate
that way in a field, esp. after doing it that way last yr.. Glad I'm not into
hunting or the doe that took a mint from Becky's fingers & stood 10 ft. from me
eating my tomato & potato plants last yr. would have been resting in bags in
her freezer!

Another cold, blustery, snowy day, but one day closer to elusive spring.
