I know that American Kestrels are declining across the state, however it seems that Merlin reports are becoming more frequent. Is that just my impression, or are Merlins not in trouble as Kestrels are? If not, is it because they don't require cavities to nest, or because they seem to be more adaptable to urban areas, or...? Any thoughts? Mona Bearor South Glens Falls, NY
