I was rewarded this afternoon to find four Hermit Thrushes in the woods behind
my house. They were stealth but very busy picking through the leaf litter. I
first came upon two of them in one section of woods. I stopped and watched them
for several minutes. They too were curious , coming to within 15 feet of me. I
eventually broke the spell and carried on, only to come upon another pair in a
different section of woods. A Yellow- bellied Sapsucker made an appearance and
drummed in an otherwise quiet woods.
