A pleasant noon-hour by the observatory. Bright sun and no wind. I was there
from 11:45 til 1:15, and it was basically a slow time. One migrating Northern
Harrier and several local TV’s, Red-tails, and Rough-leggeds. Thousands of
distant Canada and Snow Geese, mainly to the west. A couple of Horned Larks and
Killdeer calling and a fly-over Pipit.

I was trying to decide how much longer to stay when a distant speck
materialized into the bird-of-the-day: GOLDEN EAGLE. I was able to observe it
for almost ten minutes as it worked its way north and passed almost straight
overhead. Never once in the entire time did it flap its wings! Just one, long
soar/glide.
