Kathy Strickland & I truly enjoyed the early a.m. breeze today & the delightful
singing & views of the Dickcissel on the bare branches of the big oak at Seneca
Meadows. This was a lifer for me & special since with hearing aids I was able
to clearly hear & enjoy it.

Among various other birds we saw a Savannah Sparrow, a number of Bob-o-Links &
Song Sparrows & heard the witchity-witchity of the Common Yellow-throat but
weren't able to see it. Didn't see any sign of Bob's skunks :) :) ... but Bob,
I had a little one in my live trap yesterday a.m.!!!

Flowers were beautiful across the "meadows" but the drought is taking its
toll. I truly appreciate the beauty & solitude of that grassland ... the Seneca
Meadows Prairie lands! Go see it, folks.
It involves a lot of walking but it's really peaceful to the harried soul. One
thing it needs is some benches upon to rest.

On our way from Union Springs to the meadows we also saw 9 or 10 osprey nests
with at least 16 birds. Two adult bald eagles were in a dead tree at Mud Lock.
