We had a very busy Sunday morning while banding a number of nice warblers and
the
first Lincoln's Sparrow of the fall. We're struck by the number of Philadelphia
Vireos that we are banding; they must have had a very good year. As we were
finishing the morning we had a most appreciated call from Dave who told us that
the
Cattle Egret had been seen at Benning. Secured the nets and got up to MNWR
around
1330 and greatly enjoyed seeing this young bird. Thanks Dave for the call and
your
kindness!!!

We saw pretty much the same as has been reported by others. By the time we got
to
Puddler's in late afternoon the Avocet was there but the others had departed.
We did
find a nice A.Golden Plover which was another bird we have not seen in many
years.
Also met several wonderful folks who inhabit this list. I'm amazed by the
quality of
newer spotting scopes and cameras and the vast store of knowledge crammed into
smart
phones; quite a departure from our early days of notes and sketches and phone
trees!
  Great day!
John

There is currently a heavily molting but definitively male EVENING GROSBEAK
scrapping with the Blue Jays for a position on my feeders.
