[cayugabirds-l] Sapsucker Woods Rusty Blackbird

2010-03-19 Thread James G. Kohlenberg
I saw one Rusty Blackbird on the Wilson trail yesterday afternoon. I think
this was been previously reported, but he's still hanging around by the
footbridge at the intersection.

[cayugabirds-l] 1 Western Grebe photo 3/19/10 this afternoon

2010-03-19 Thread Leona Lauster
The Western Grebe was in close enough for a digiscoped photo today at 1:00 pm.
It took forever to get a photo though because it kept diving. It was to the
right of the right No Swimming sign and then it moved to the left so that it
was straight out but also farther out. Bob Guthrie also found one Red-throated
Loon. Also at the park was one Sharp-shinned Hawk.

We went to Broadway Road this morning but the hawks just weren't moving enough
for us. We saw one Red-shouldered Hawk here and a couple TVs. We found
another Red-shouldered Hawk at Fields Hill Road but our best sighting was from
the road near Huckleberry Swamp. This bird was calling loudly and Bob got
photos. Huckleberry Swamp had a sign on it: CLOSED FOR THE WINTER. Does that
mean it opens tomorrow for the first day of Spring?
