[cayugabirds-l] Rough-legged Hawk

2016-02-17 Thread Sandy Wold
Seen flying over Wegmans parking lot 3:30pm flying east. I reported one a
few months ago in this area, slightly south of Wegmans and flying in the
same direction.

There was a second hawk sitting in a tree nearby the inlet, where I was
standing. It sat with its back to me, and I could not make out what it
was. It had a very dark back with a small gold patch on each shoulder, and
it was Red-tailed Hawk-size.

[cayugabirds-l] Rough-legged Hawk flyover Wegmans

2016-02-17 Thread Sandy
About 3:30pm today. Close views then it spiraled up and away toward six mile
creek. A second hawk was in a tree nearby. Couldn't make out what kind it was.
It had two golden patches on a dark brown back side. Two flocks of crows flew
by about 30min. later. I counted about 60.

[cayugabirds-l] report from Reuben

2016-02-17 Thread Mary E. Winston
Reuben called the front desk to report that the Snowy Owl is still being seen
at the same place - corner of Reese Road and Sybolt Road (don't know if I spelt
that correctly) and a Lapland Longspur is being seen on Sybolt road a few miles
down from where the Owl is being seen.

[cayugabirds-l] Possible injured/dead hawk along E Shore Dr.

2016-02-17 Thread Marc Devokaitis
Just received a call from someone who hit a hawk with his car on E. Shore
Drive, somewhere between Stewart Park and Rogue's Tavern (didn't get exact
location).

No indication from person if bird was injured or killed, and he did not
stay in the location with the bird. If anyone is heading along that way,
keep your eyes peeled,

Marc Devokaitis
