[cayugabirds-l] Mt Pleasant Common Redpolls - YES!
A flock of about 30 Common Redpolls continues to associate with the growing Snow Bunting flock on Mt Pleasant Rd this morning. They all were in the weedy field opposite the communications tower, both around 10:30 when I first saw them and around 11:30 when I returned. Basically the same spot as I saw them 2 days ago. Tip for spotting the redpolls: look for the birds that are clinging to the plant stems...that would be the redpolls, whereas the Snow Buntings are mostly foraging on the ground. [cayugabirds-l] Tundra Swans
I was standing on Tupper Road at about 8:50 this morning with a couple of walking companions whom I’d just met. Visibility was reduced by the falling snow to just a few hundred yards. We heard but could not see a flock of Tundra Swans passing south along the Cayuga Inlet Valley to our east. -Geo Kloppel -- Cayugabirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/cayugabirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/Cayugabirds 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/CAYU.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
[cayugabirds-l] Evening Grosbeaks!
Finally I had a flock of male and female Evening Grosbeaks here in Auburn! Unfortunately, a squirrel came and a Coopers Hawk, at the same time and scared them off. I have no idea how long they had been here. Luckily my camera was nearby and I did get a few pics. I hope they return. Cooper is still sitting in the crabapple tree and watching the feeders. [cayugabirds-l] Evening Grosbeaks
So happy that I got some here at my feeders this morning (in Newfield, near Connecticut Hill)! Quite a few of them, I'd guess about 20, and the crabapple tree where the feeders are seemed full of them. Unfortunately, they flew off rather quickly. Hoping they return. American Tree Sparrows here too. -- Cayugabirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/cayugabirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/Cayugabirds 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/CAYU.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
