[cayugabirds-l] Holiday robins

2009-12-25 Thread B Mcaneny
Christmas morning gifts---About three to four dozen ROBINS blanketing our yard.
Hard to count because they are everywhere and moving around constantly. At
least one E. BLUEBIRD in with them, looking overwhelmed.

Our best wishes to all of you.

[cayugabirds-l] Holiday Shrike

2009-12-25 Thread Annette Finney
For the past hour I've been enjoying great views of a NORTHERN SHRIKE flying
around fields and hedgerows along Boiceville Road in Brooktondale. I was on
foot but the bird is easily visible from the road.

[cayugabirds-l] 9996 species

2009-12-25 Thread can...@i-bird.com
Today I downloaded the Clements excel file of species. I removed all the
subspecies and groups and came up with 9996 species. How close am I to the
complete list as defined by Clements. I realize other authorities list
different numbers, but want to know if my reduction of the excel file was
accurate. Thanks,
