[cayugabirds-l] Cayuga Basin boundaries

2009-12-29 Thread Kathy Dan C.
Is there a map showing the boundaries for birding in the Cayuga Basin? I read
that it is different from the true watershed. Specifically, is Jennings Pond
in Danby within the basin for birding?

2009-12-29 Thread Geo Kloppel
Jennings Pond is most definitely (entirely) within the Cayuga basin,
whether you mean the physical drainage basin or the arbitrarily
adjusted basin as presented first in THE FLORA OF THE CAYUGA LAKE
BASIN by Karl Wiegand and Arthur Eames, Cornell University, 1924. You
can find an image of the original Wiegand and Eames map on the Cayuga
Bird Club website at this link:

[cayugabirds-l] Yellow-bellied Sapsucker in Ovid

2009-12-29 Thread Anne Marie Johnson
I just got pictures from my aunt whose neighbor has had a
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker visiting her feeders in Ovid. I'm not sure
the date of the last sighting, but the bird has been regular and was
at this person's feeders last winter too. I'm not sure what count
circle Ovid falls in, but if this bird is of interest for the CBC, I
can get more details.
