[cayugabirds-l] Winter Wren Location?
Hi Folks, I have a friend visiting once again from North Carolina who wants to see a Winter Wren. (I failed to deliver this bird last year.) The friend has had hip replacements and can't walk too far on a bumpy trail, but can hike in flat areas. Does anyone know a good spot near Ithaca where one can actually see (not just hear) Winter Wren without hiking way back in? Thanks! [cayugabirds-l] West Danby Acadian Flycatcher
The Station Road Acadian Flycatcher was actively singing at 9:30 this morning. Thought I'd mention it, in case anyone's still trying to tick this species for 2011. Find the boundary between the L-P Preserve and the Danby State Forest (just opposite the uppermost cliff), then follow the preserve signs and SF yellow paint blazes south about 1,000' through hemlock forest to reach the tiny stream; walk upstream just 100' - 200' and you're there. -Geo Geo Kloppel Bowmaker Restorer 227 Tupper Road Spencer NY 14883 607 564 7026 g...@cornell.edu geoklop...@gmail.com -- Cayugabirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/cayugabirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/Cayugabirds 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/CAYU.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
[cayugabirds-l] Oddest sight - TV
On my way in to work today, I saw the oddest sight. I was on Stevenson Rd. going toward Garm Farm Rd. On the right where the compost and horses are pastured were at least 25 TVs each perched on top of a fence post, all in a line. It was absurd. If you have time, run out there now and check it out. -- Cayugabirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/cayugabirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/Cayugabirds 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/CAYU.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --

Lots of ducks and a few shorebirds. Highlight at Mays Pt was a Great Egret. Knox-Marsellus habitat looks like we'll get another good shorebird year.
