[cayugabirds-l] Northeast Ithaca Migrants
Hi all, There were quite a few migrants around Northeast Ithaca and Sapsucker Woods today. On Tareyton Drive, Jay McGowan alerted me to a CAPE MAY WARBLER which I later found in a large-ish mixed species flock. The complete list is below: http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist?subID=S14130682 At Sapsucker Woods, there was another CAPE MAY WARBLER singing on the road in. There were also many AMERICAN REDSTARTS and MAGNOLIA WARBLERS (one of which Mark and Tilden Chao and I found singing a strange song). Re: [cayugabirds-l] Snow Goose and Sora
The location Jeff mentions for the Sora is the same as where I heard one about 2 weeks ago. Nice to know it may be staying around. The darn bird did not respond to playbacks on my Big Day. It certainly is not a bird that I am very fond of. [cayugabirds-l] OT:Webinars
Hey all, Just to continue with the theme of my Cayuga bird club newsletter column of a few months ago, I wanted to alert people to a series of duck id webinars that are now available from the Lab of O. I did the first one of the series as it was in development a while ago and it was very useful with nice interactive features. Now there are 4 total. We are so lucky to have many new learning tools at hand. You can find out more about this at http://www.birds.cornell.edu/courses/home/ I see there is also a home tutorial now available for bird id tips. http://www.birds.cornell.edu/courses/home/tutorial/ These are worth checking out. Might be especially useful for people contemplating leading Beginner Bird Walks too. Great information for both learning and teaching. Good birding.
