Following Mark's email, I can report that the Screech-owl I noted in my box on 
Oct. 17 has been seen almost daily since then (at least, I assume it is the 
same one). That makes this over a month of roosting, and its patterns are 
similar to Mark's owl, except that I can't say that I've heard it calling 
lately. This morning, the owl appeared in the entrance, but was not completely 
flush with the entrance hole, presumably trying to stay dry but still see out. 
I hope that this owl intends to stay until the breeding season!
