Hi all,
There was a lot of quiet activity on the Wilson Trail North this morning.
The highlights were a calling (but unseen) YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER,
giving its pewee-like chu-wee calls near the feeders/blind along the pond
shore, and a male MOURNING WARBLER foraging along the trail behind the
MOWA SINGING BY DUCKWEED POND NEAR SHERWOOD.

Just a heads-up:
My co-worker, Fred Channell, came in this morning and clearly described an
adult RED-HEADED WOODPECKER, which he observed flying across the road in front
of him around 8:45am. The bird was flying from right to left across Route 13

For an incredible third consecutive year I've stumbled across a pileated
nesthole at the Mulholland Wildflower Preserve. The bird alerted me with
its squawking as I jogged past, looked at me nervously for a long moment

A male pileated woodpecker of unusual color (partly leucistic?) has been coming
occasionally to our suet feeder. He has brownish primaries, terminating in
yellowish-brown tips, and a mostly brown rump which is visible mainly when he
flies. After missing his visits for several weeks, I was

Hi all,
This evening (Friday) between 6:30 pm and 7:30 pm we had lots of visitors to
our bird feeders. We have 3 sunflower seed feeders and one suet feeder, all in
the yard. A remarkable 18 species of birds visited during that hour! It was
overcast and drizzly and about 51 degrees. I've
