[cayugabirds-l] OOB Yellow-Headed Blackbird continues to been seen daily Broome Co.

2016-04-18 Thread David Nicosia
All,

We have been very fortunate to have a male YELLOW-HEADED
BLACKBIRD hanging around Boland Pond, in Chenango Forks, NY
or on Fallon Road. This bird is now being seen regularly every day
and it forages very close to the road. In fact, it was on the guardrail
yesterday!!

I uploaded a map to my flickr site which shows the exact
location near the road where this bird frequents.

 https://www.flickr.com/photos/davenicosia/25908702603/in/dateposted-public/

I have had him as close as 10-15 feet away!! The bird has been present
since 4/2 so we are not sure how long he is going to stay.
He vocalizes occasionally but not as much as the one we
had in Endicott, NY a few years back. Anyway, its an awesome
opportunity to get a very rare and gorgeous bird up close.

Good luck and good bird to all

Dave Nicosia

[cayugabirds-l] Fish Crows, Bat, and White-throated Sparrow

2016-04-18 Thread Sandy Wold
I'm behind in reporting:
Last Thursday, I saw ten Fish Crows flying over Fall Creek toward
Cascadilla gorge. All were calling; that is how I know.

Sunday, I saw a small bat hunting for insects around 5pm at Ithaca Falls.

Yesterday, I think I had a Chipping Sparrow fly into my garden then up to
my feeder: white throat, black eyeline, rufous head, two wing bars, grey
above the black eyeline. House Finches seem to be hanging around more
than in past.
