[cayugabirds-l] Dryden Lake Osprey pair

2021-05-01 Thread Kevin J. Cummings
Hi all,

The Osprey pair at Dryden Lake have been busy collecting nest material the last
few days. Typical behavior seems to be flying over a small tree on the lake
edge and tearing off a twig on the way by. However, I just saw one flying low
over the ground to grab a large clump of cut grass.

[cayugabirds-l] Salt Point songs

2021-05-01 Thread John Bowdoin Greenly
When Sandy Podulka and I arrived at Salt Point late morning today we were
greeted by a singing Orchard Oriole. Nice to have him back!

Also singing were a number of Yellow Warblers, Warbling Vireos, Yellow-Rumps, a
Redstart, Field and Song Sparrows, Goldfinches, Bluebirds, Tree and Barn
Swallows, RWBBs and Grackles, Robins and Cardinals, a House Wren, and a
Catbird chiming in with random irrelevant comments. Nice to hear all that song!!

There were 7 Caspian Terns on the point at Myers.

Re: [cayugabirds-l] Swallows galore

2021-05-01 Thread Donna Lee Scott
Sometimes walking the RR track here, I look down to shore to see Swallows
sitting atop the heads of those plastic GH Owls people put on docks or rooves
to scare away birds!😃
