Myself and our biologist Jenny Landry have finally sorted out the details for
the NYS DEC short-eared owl/winter raptor surveys in Seneca and Schuyler
counties. We have survey locations from Ovid to Mecklenburg. Our plan is to

Last night, the NYS DEC conducted our first SEOW/winter raptor survey in Seneca
and Schuyler counties. Nine of us braved the terrible weather to survey at 7
locations. The rain stopped just in time to see a few SHORT-EARED OWLS and a

approached by a fellow birder who informed me that he had spotted TWO
SHORT-EARED OWLS on Leach Rd by the railroad tracks and EIGHT SHORT-EARED OWLS
on City Hill Rd, near where Henderson Rd ends (the eastern end). I did not
