I had two personal hawthorn firsts this morning - scarlet tanager and
black and white warbler. Also three solitary sandpipers, Baltimore
oriole, cedar waxwings, common yellow throat, yellow warbler, yellow
rumped warbler, redstarts, and brown headed cowbirds doing as much
watching as I.
While I was pulling garlic mustard vicinity raspberry bushes, two
Baltimore orioles enjoyed the blossoms of our apple tree. Overall, a

I spent a happy two hours Monday at the Empire State fairgrounds
listening to and watching upland sandpipers, savanna sparrows,
eastern meadowlarks, and horned larks. There is a hawk on a nest in

Daily, downy, hairy, and red bellied woodpeckers feast on our suet.
A pileated pair are rare visitors.
