Thanks to all who responded. They are indeed Honeybees as identified by
my neighborhood beekeeper.
The swarm has doubled since earlier this morning and now the birds are
staying away, except for the woodpeckers.
I think that when it gets dark and the bees are gone I will remove my
seed feeders
For the past two days I have had a small swarm of what appear to be
small Honeybees at my platform feeder.
The birds don't seem to mind and I haven't seen any interaction between
them. Didn't know bees liked bird seed.
Has anyone else had this experience?

Meg and I made a quick turn around Salt Point and Myers. The highlights
were:
Salt Point
The bluest Eastern Bluebird I have ever seen, the photo is going into my
5 birds folder for the Jan 2015 meeting
Northern Mockingbird
Many American Robins
Red-winged Blackbirds
Several American Wigeon
. For Meg a life
bird, the Harlequin. For me this weekend brought 2 life birds, the
Harlequin and the Red-breasted Merganser.
What beautiful day and a great trip.

at the photos today and to my surprise there were White-winged
Scoters and a Surf Scoter. Not great shots, but definitely identifiable.
Two new life birds for me.
As I have said before I only add to my list when I have taken an
identifiable photo of the bird, so to me this is a biggie.

Thanks to everyone who responded. We think we have a good idea of what
