Dr. Carolyn McMaster here, Just a note of caution for all you fellow birders. This is the season when ticks are most active. Even after it freezes, if it goes above freezing during the day, the ticks will be foraging for a blood meal. Only after continual hard frosts will they go dormant. Lyme disease is becoming more and more common around here. Carolyn
