The osprey pair at the nest platform north of Truman Marina in the center
of the field at Hog Hole were seen mating yesterday. The female on the
roost pole and the male flying in above her.
Two additional osprey were flying and vocalizing over the boat area.

We have Insectishield clothes and religiously use insect repellent, and do
tick checks. Any tick found can/should be sent to the Upstate Medical lab
for free testing for tick borne disease.

The language we use is important. I would suggest we consider replacing
the word "swamp" with "wetland", which is also a protected habitat in some
cases.
More information may be available via NY-DEC Fish and Wildlife as a place
to start.

monitor first arrivals.

The tree damage at Stewart park and Renwick woods is extensive;
impressive. The park is open.

Marsha, can you post this to the Black Diamond Trail Facebook page, or
would you like me to? We stopped walking the Black Diamond once weather
brought out more people, and we live a stone's throw from the trail, for
this same reason.
