picked up again a bit.Would the threat of a storm (however distant) affect
birdsong in this way?

I have been enjoying the song of the Eastern Meadowlark here in Brooktondale
over the last week, having not heard it for weeks and weeks. And just now
the Red-winged Blackbirds, too! Sounds and feels like May or June even though
it looks like October.

I think I must have seen this same Great Egret—at our pond in Brooktondale—this
morning at about 10am. A beauty!

I just had a Red-headed Woodpecker land in my trees on Vandemark Road in
Brooktondale. I don’t know how long it will stay or how unusual it might be
for our area.

I hesitate to post this, but I was birding SSW this morning (around 8:15am) and
at the Podell boardwalk along the Wilson trail, I saw high up in a dead tree
snag what looked like a juvenile Red-headed woodpecker: distinct white
secondaries, very white underneath when it flew and a brownish/dark
(about 8pm). Also,
a Cooper's hawk earlier in the evening on the airport fence along Warren.
What a night!

My first Redpolls arrived at my feeders today, too!Within a few minutes,
however, a sharp-shinned hawk swooped in and chased them all away.
