Hi everyone,
A flock of a couple of dozen or so American Tree Sparrows was foraging near the
roadside in the mixed switchgrass/weeds field on the northeast side of the road
and just downhill from the observatory, around 3pm today. I tried hard to turn
them into Common Redpolls but they would
We were happy to see an American Tree Sparrow under the feeder today. Yesterday
we also had a Song Sparrow.

Interesting. For what it's worth, I had my first American Tree Sparrow of
the fall here at Sapsucker Woods on October 31, and I have seen them every
day since then in the Ithaca area and north to Montezuma and the Lake
Ontario shore. There have been groups of 40+ along Towpath Road since at
least
