I've seen chipmunks and outdoor cats collect bird eggs from nests and move
them.  Not sure if that is what is happening here, but it might be.

So hear's a mystery.  Yesterday morning I went out the entry door and found one 
robin egg sitting in the corner on the stones of the patio.  By afternoon, 
there were two. This morning there are three.  Have you ever heard of bizarre 
behavior like this?
