[cayugabirds-l] Mucklands large gulls

At Knox-Marcellus overlook looking at several hundred Tundra Swans I noticed a steady stream of Herring Gulls going toward Cayuga Lake at around 4:15. I got down to the mucklands as many birds left but in a 15 minute scan found 2 Adult and a second year Lesser Black-backed plus a first year

Hi. I drove by just yesterday around 6 pm as part of the raptor survey at Montezuma Refuge.the spot is snow and ice still. Lots of snow geese in the area (northern part of the basin)just not there..at least yesterday. Pete Sar On 3/22/2017 7:34 PM,

Huge numbers of Snow Geese occupied the Montezuma mucklands along both sides of rte 31 yesterday - perhaps 100,000. Mixed in were plenty of Tundra Swans, Northern Pintails, American Widgeon, etcetera. More Tree Swallows too. The lanes out across the muck, being elevated a few inches above the

This afternoon I was finally able to find a large flock of SNOW GEESE at the south end of the mucklands. Over the 2 hours I watched this flock it grew to 45,000 birds as more came in from the north. The flock periodically rose to circle as BALD EAGLES flew over. I was able to find one ROSS'S
