I took a walk at Salt Pt this morning. Highlights were 2 Common Loons foraging
not too far from shore and a Caspian Tern on one of the sand banks...which duly
pulled up a "rare bird, please describe ID" message on eBird! I guess we don't
usually see them there in spring, mostly in late summer

The Baltimore Orioles frequently coming faithfully for grape jelly end of May,
in June and earlier in July have not been seen in at least a week. The catbird
stills comes. Think Orioles must have started moving around—away. I miss

Hi all,
I took a short walk around Salt Pt this morning (9-10 am) with the goal of
checking out Myers Pt spit for Caspian Terns. None of those yet but I did see
some cool birds, the best of which was multiple Baltimore Orioles (adult male
and female, plus at least 4 juveniles all foraging in

This morning a found a lovely female GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLER on Salt Point in
Lansing, at the edge of the trees on the right as you continue past the
gate on the main road that parallels the creek. I followed her as she
foraged along the edge, eventually making her way more to the center of the
Candace Cornell is out of town and asked some of us to check on the Salt Pt.
Ospreys this weekend.
I spent 1.5 + hours observing Ospreys at Salt Pt. with nothing too unusual
happening. I kept seeing 2 chicks.
Then, as I pulled myself out of my low chair to depart, I just missed seeing

Hi everyone,
Well, the light didn't cooperate with my planned trip to Montezuma this
morning, so instead I sidetracked to Salt Pt in Lansing. What a great place
that spot is! The highlight was two male Orchard Orioles singing and engaging
in territorial altercations in trees just a little way
As promised (threatened?) here's a link to an Orchard Oriole photo from this

The adults at Salt Point, Ophelia and Orpheus, are the mated pair from last
year, arriving at Salt Point on Saturday, April 5. 2014. This will be their
approximate arrival date every spring for as long as they survive. They've
been courting, nesting, and fighting off intruding ospreys, 1-4 at a
I haven't been keeping up with which ospreys are nesting where this year and I
deleted a bunch of email from this list. How long have the Ospreys been on the
nest platform this year at Salt Point?
They are there right now but I am not sure if they are Robyn and Paul as I
didn't study them
