Glenn, Yes, Contact the ECO. The ECO, Rangers, are also State Police, so give them the information about inaction by local LEO, Law Enforcement Officer. Nigel (Ranger Joan Oldrodyd on BCC - Tioga, Tompkins Cty) For example: our vol fire department spent several hours putting out a trash burn. The Tompkins County Sheriff who showed up didn't even know that trash burning was illegal - so our Chief had to educate them about this law. DEC Region 7 Offices - New York State Department of Environmental https://www.dec.ny.gov/about/615.html Central Dispatch for rescues, they should also be able to reach the ECO in your area. In the case of a wildland rescue/lost person call both local 911 then Forest Ranger Emergency Contact: 518-408-5850 518-891-0235 (Adirondacks) https://www.dec.ny.gov/press/press.html - for Ranger and ECO activities. > On 2019-07-20 21:40, Glenn Wilson wrote: >> My neighbor shot and wounded a downy off our feeders. Re: [cayugabirds-l] anyone love trying to identify bird nests from photos?
Another day they shot a hole in our bedroom window (was new windows all around the house). This time their were two of them. They were under 16. The NYS police did come. They found a BB (from a pump-up BB gun) inside the window. While the trooper was searching he found a couple .40 magazines. I told him “0.40 Springfield”. Nothing more was said. I’m sure he checked it out later. One boy paid for 1/2 the window. The other never paid a dime. These kids did lose their BB guns. They deal drugs now but seem to leave us along. Hi Glenn, Wow! Hard to believe the sheriff would not act but I see that level of enforcement in Schuyler as well. The tried and true response is to call the State Police.
