I was skiing with a friend at the Cornell Golf Course this AM, and there
was a fairly big gang of male bluebirds and robins in and around the
shrubbery around the edges of the open area that extends to the south. From
the parking lot, cross the main expanse to the east, go down the little
hill, cross the wooden foot bridge (watch out for the two black killer
posts that just barely stick up above the snow at the N end of that
bridge!), and curve to the right. Ski along the edge of the woods and brush
- that's where we saw them. All the birds of both species that I got a
good look at were males. Did the sensible females go (or stay) south? Or
are they just hanging out nearby somewhere?
