The Cayuga Bird Club will be meeting on Monday, February 10,
at 7:30 at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, with cookies and conversation
at 7:15.
Our speaker, Leonardo Campagna, Postdoctoral Research Associate in
the Fuller Evolutionary Biology Program at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology,
will give his presentation entitled, "Exploring the Origins of Neotropical
Avian Biodiversity".

The Neotropics hold the largest avian diversity in the world. Leo's work
focuses on studying the process of speciation, with the objective of
understanding
what factors have contributed to generating the vast avian diversity of the
region.
He will talk about how geological events have promoted speciation and explore
examples from his own work in greater detail, where he uses a combination
of molecular tools with the analysis of sonograms (sound data) derived from
vocalizations to study the evolution of various groups of birds from a number of
areas in South America.

Members are invited to dinner with Leo before the meeting at 5:30
at Taste of Thai Express. Please RSVP by noon Monday to cl...@juno.com
so reservations can be made.

Hope to see you Monday!
Colleen Richards
Correspondence Secretary
