Finally, I am getting to see my vocal great crested flycatcher in my yard! He nicely landed on the very top of a spruce branch where I could see his pretty colors quite well and listen to his ‘reap’ song followed by a quiet little ‘burple’ sound. [cayugabirds-l] Great Crested Flycatcher family
Sounds like I've got a family group of Great Crested Flycatchers down in the orchard. They used to nest in the dead apple tree hollows. Maybe I just missed their nest this year. [cayugabirds-l] Great crested flycatcher
I just had a Great crested flycatcher land on the top of my bird feeder, stayed for app. a minute and droped to the ground. I did not see him fly away, but he was gone when I tried to sneek out and get a picture. I'm in the village of Newfield and was very suprised to see it. -- Cayugabirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/cayugabirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/Cayugabirds 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/CAYU.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
[cayugabirds-l] Great Crested Flycatcher
This morning as I searched in vain in bushes across my road for a calling, but hidden warbler, I spotted a Great Crested Flycatcher with his brilliant yellow breast shining in the early sun, on a top-most bare branch-- he was calling "Wheap"! Recently, as I sat in my screen porch with a big oak tree limb is just outside, a Catbird perched there and sang a perfect imitation of a Wood Thrush "Ee-oh-lay". Donna L.
