Although the herons have been back at the nest in Sapsucker Woods, I have not heard word of them sitting on eggs yet. This afternoon, we saw one heron down in the nest and wondered, but later it was up and walking around the nest, so may have just been checking to see if the nest was in acceptable form.

At the edge of the Dayhoff platform (on the West Trail, I think), we heard high pitched squeeking, similar to Golden-crowned Kinglet song. I saw two Tufted Titmice. One of them, with something in it's mouth, descended into a cavity, and the squeeking stopped. Could titmice be feeding young already!

Near the junction of what I think is the West Trail and the Wilson Trail (between the Podell boardwalk and the road), we found a small, empty binocular case for Leupold binoculars. I put the case in the handle of the door to the visitor center.
