[cayugabirds-l] Horned grebe correction

2019-03-30 Thread Donna Lee Scott
I should have said the Horned Grebe I saw was TRANSITIONING to breeding
plumage. It is not yet brightly colored, but I could see where the colors will
be on the head feathers etc.

[cayugabirds-l] Horned Grebe courtship-song + Merlin Aurora

2015-04-13 Thread John Confer
Sunday, 12 April,

The Wells College boathouse provided:
50+ Horned Grebes close to the dock. Some in breeding plumage and
even began their courtship dance and song. Fabulous.
A Merlin, or possibly two, called off and on for about two minutes
from about 100 yds east of boatchouse and about 100 yds east of Rt 90
from direction conifer trees just northwest of the large/tall red
steeple and along the crescent-shaped, one-way road that passes through
part of Wells South Campus. Further info on hawks appreciated.

Cayuga Village Clerk Office
 Rough-winged Swallow.

Cheers,

John and Karen Confer

There's a nice breeding plumage horned Grebe at east shore park south of the
most southerly docks.

[cayugabirds-l] Horned Grebe, Pintail @Stewart Pk; Red-throated Loon at Myers

2011-11-24 Thread Stuart Krasnoff
A quick note before attending to the plucked bird in the fridge...There was a
Horned Grebe at Stewart Park off the west. There was also a male Northern
Pintail, a pair of Common Goldeneye, 30 Bufflehead, 2-4 Redhead, ca. 8
Ring-necked Ducks, some Lesser Scaup, along with Coot, Goose, and Mallard.
Myers was quiet but I did find a Red-throated Loon a few hundred yards off the
point, and 5 Common Loons. Happy Thanksgiving to all.

[cayugabirds-l] Horned Grebe not Eared and photos

2010-04-20 Thread Leona Lauster
In a effort to verify the Eared Grebe at Van Dyne Spoor this morning I
unfortunately found a Horned Grebe in breeding plumage in the same location.
I'm sorry for any trouble the other post caused anyone.
So unless someone finds an Eared Grebe here I will delete my Eared Grebe from
my ebird. I also found a Pied-billed Grebe not far from this bird. The Horned
Grebe is a beautiful bird but it can disappear fast so you might want to stay
in your car while you look.
