First and foremost, the Muckrace fundraiser/birding event WILL take
place on September 10-11th 7pm-7pm!! However, given the rise in
Covid-19 and Covid-19 variant cases and the subsequent recommendations
of state and federal health departments we have decided NOT to have
the pizza dinner and wrap-up gathering at the end of the event (this
means you’ll get home sooner!).

At the end of the event teams will drop off their checklists at the
Montezuma Audubon Center in Savannah. Volunteers will compile and
verify the checklists there and the results will be published on the
Friends Of The Montezuma Wetlands Complex website

        (https://friendsofmontezuma.org/projects-programs/muckrace/ [1])
within a day or two. Results will also be emailed to each team. Please
remember to write down your highlights (maybe the Wood stork or
Roseate spoonbill will still be around!) and lowlights (oftentimes
this is mosquitoes on Howland Island!) and memorable quotes by teams
or team members and submit them with your checklist. We will have
those forms available at the MAC.

Camping will still be available at the MAC and the Hunter Check
Station on Rt. 89. We ask that while you are inside the building at
the MAC that you please wear a mask, regardless of your vaccination
level, and to practice social distancing and adhere to any health
guidelines that are in place at the time. Registration on Friday
evening and throughout the day Saturday at the MAC will remain the
same and t-shirts for team members can be picked up there. We are also
hoping to have Muckrace hats (not specific as to the year like the
t-shirt) available for purchase.

So form your team now and get ready for the 2021 Montezuma Muckrace!
The birds will be there, we hope you are too!!
