Around 3pm, a flock of 40-ish Horned Larks, with a handful of Snow Buntings in
there too, was swirling around the corn fields on Mt Pleasant Rd

Hi all,
I braved the snow for a walk about 10:30 this morning up Mt Pleasant Rd, where
the highlight (well all I could see through the blizzard, actually) was a flock
of 14 Horned Larks foraging on the last remaining patch of ground that wasn't
buried in snow!
At the feeders, two Fox Sparrows,
Hi all,
The corn stubble field just west of the radio tower on Mt Pleasant Rd had a
flock of 30-ish Horned Larks foraging among numerous pigeons, crows, and Canada
Geese this morning, around 10:15. And closer to the observatory, six Snow
Buntings were foraging along the roadside.

12/31 - Just went to go see the Horned Larks. Saw about 25+ flitting
between the fields on both sides of the road, near the end of Mt. Pleasant
(at the junction to Mineah Road). Nice views of the ones that landed on the
road near the car!

Hi all,
The local flock of Horned Larks is currently visible in the corn-stubble field
on the south side of Mt Pleasant Road (east end). I estimated around 20 earlier
this morning, but I know there are more. Thinking of tomorrows' bird count, I
wonder if "a bunch" would be a valid number?? ;-)
On a beat-the-storm walk on Mt Pleasant Road this morning (Tuesday) around
10:00, I came a cross a flock of Horned Larks...I counted 46, there may have
been a few more.

Hi all,
Friday afternoon around 3:30, I watched a large flock of Horned Larks foraging
along the roadside and in a newly harvested cornfield at the eastern end of Mt
Pleasant Rd...a rough count turned up 70 but there were more. I tried at first
to turn them into Snow Buntings but did not succee
HI all,
Forgot to post this earlier, but a flock of 2 dozen or so Horned Larks flushed
up from the side of the road at the field that has just had corn harvested,
east end of Mt Pleasant Road, about 11 am today. First time I've seen Horned
Larks up there for weeks.

The first courtship and territoriality were obvious this morning on Mt
Pleasant, with 2 males singing from the patches of snow-free ground opened up
by the mild weather.

A flocklet of 7 Horned Larks flew over the field opposite the observatory on Mt

Snowy Mt Pleasant had a flock of about 40 Horned Larks when I was walking up
there around 11:00 this morning. It's hard to come back to winter from 2 weeks
in hot, humid southern Texas!
