On my walk up Mt Pleasant Rd this afternoon I watched a Red-tailed Hawk pair circling over Gladys Birdsall's woods, a couple of minutes later one of them came cruising low over the woods with a trailing clump of grasses in its talons...nesting material. It headed slowly west and disappeared behind the trees which makes me think the possible nest might be a bit beyond Gladys' property. First I've seen evidence of nesting in this spot although I have often seen RTHA there, usually in winter. I HAVE seen evidence of RTHA nesting at the junction of Mt Pleasant Rd and Baker Hill Rd, but maybe this is a different pair.
