[cayugabirds-l] Myers This Morning
A few minutes scoping from Myers point this morning turned up an adult ICELAND GULL in with the flock of Herring Gulls. Salt Point had at least three CAROLINA WRENS countersinging. And a stop along the RR tracks just before the road out to Ladoga found the same WINTER WREN that Jay McGowan turned up there yesterday. [cayugabirds-l] Myers this morning
A BAIRD'S SANDPIPER just circled the spit calling but eventually headed north up the lake without landing. Otherwise quiet, with the usual two Semipalmated Plovers and handful of Least Sandpipers on the islands in the mouth of Salmon Creek. It will undoubtedly be worth checking here later today after the rains hit, however. Please post if you do so! [cayugabirds-l] Myers this Morning
By the time I got to Myers this morning Bill Baker had already seen several Bonaparte's Gulls and a Common Loon. We soon picked out a close-in Red-necked Grebe in nearly full breeding plumage. A flock of 19 scoters flew up the lake. Viewing through the heavy mist was difficult; they were either Surf (most likely) or Black Scoters. We also watched 20-odd Bonaparte's Gulls make their way north. Among the dozens of swallows were at least one Northern Rough-winged and two Barn Swallows. [cayugabirds-l] Myers this morning - and misc.
Myers was windy this morning (duh!!). Between 6 and 7 I had three COMMON LOONS and one BARN SWALLOW winging north. Plus one COMLOO on the water. There was a SPOTTED SANDPIPER and a KILLDEER on the swimming beach. At Upper Buttermilk SP, where Comfort Rd crosses the stream, there was a singing LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH.
