I thumb spelled wrong from my iphone in my excitement.That wasn't a new species
of owl, I meant to say a "vociferous" Screech Owl was in my back yard 12:04am.
If anyone hears a Great Horned Owl on Yellow Barn Rd. someone I know is maybe
doing playback for one right around now.
Haven't found any
Actually, there are Screech Owls distributed all through the neighborhood
areas, Cayuga Heights, Northeast, etc., so if it is a good night for owling, we
could rack up quite a total if people are willing, and don't get arrested

likely to rain). I often try for the Barred and Screech on Sapsucker Woods Rd.,

Hi Folks,
It is so nice that there are several people going out owling. I've gone
out owling for over 55 years on Christmas Counts, including about 30 years in
the Cayuga Bird Club area. Until the last 10 years or so, there never were
enough people to worry much about counting the same owl
