At this morning's bird walk at the arboretum, our group of 10 found a yellow
palm warbler foraging in the leaf litter by the pond south of the bridge, while
a yellow-rumped hung around chasing off goldfinches. Up among the pines we
found two pine warblers, one breeding male singing proudly, a second silent
paler individual hanging around nearby. Additional candidate pine trills were
heard later but unconfirmed. Also seen was a cooperative ruby-crowned kinglet,
a good number of flickers, many chipping sparrows, and three species of
swallows, mostly rough-winged, some trees, one barn.
