[cayugabirds-l] Palm Warblers and Broad-winged Hawks

2019-04-19 Thread Jared Dawson
Out here in Trumansburg, it’s been a great spring morning. Over 45 minutes I
had 5 BROAD-WINGED HAWKS overhead, all heading in a SW to NE direction which
has been the dominant wind direction today. Also, I had both western and
eastern PALM WARBLERS foraging in two Northern White-cedars in my back yard.

[cayugabirds-l] Palm Warblers at Stewart Park

2014-05-05 Thread Kenneth V. Rosenberg
Yesterday afternoon, I saw at least 4 PALM WARBLERS at the swan pen at Stewart
Park -- 3 were dull Western Palm Warblers and 1 was a very bright Eastern
Palm Warbler, making for an excellent comparison of these two taxa that might
someday constitute a new split. These were hunkering from the wind at the se
corner of the pond, feeding on the ground and sallying for insects low over the
water along with several YELLOW-RUMPED, YELLOW WARBLERS, and a nice male
AMERICAN REDSTART.

[cayugabirds-l] Palm Warblers

2012-04-30 Thread Jay McGowan
Hi all,
Brad and Tim had three PALM WARBLERS around the swan pen at Stewart Park
this morning and I had one a few minutes ago singing along the pond edge
near the feeders on the Wilson Trail at Sapsucker Woods. I birded with
Scott, Brad, and Livia yesterday, at the Park Preserve around the south end
of the lake. We didn't see too much of note at the Park Preserve, though
the resident Lousiana Waterthrush was around in the gorge. We also got to
see a cool Accipiter interaction, a few frames of which which can be seen
on my Picasaweb page here:
https://picasaweb.google.com/37855303614931880/Spring2012#5736972406620628018
Here:
https://picasaweb.google.com/37855303614931880/Spring2012#5736972219340444258
And here (probably the coolest):
https://picasaweb.google.com/37855303614931880/Spring2012#5736972192226558770

It was little more active in Jetty Woods later in the morning, with several
WARBLING VIREOS, BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHERS, and YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS.
