Although it sounds as if it has departed, if anyone goes to Myers and relocates
the Purple Sandpiper, would they please post it. This is the first free day
I've had to come down to see it.
Thanks!

Belatedly, I wanted to note that when I found it last week, it was happily
lurking amidst the gulls on the point. It was completely hidden by them as they
are 3x bigger than it and when clustered together made a complete wall.
Then, it is also the same color as the beach rocks. It has been
Daughter Becky I saw it last evening for 1/2 hr. until it was too dark to see more. Diana Whiting I had been there before noon watched it. Diana took lots of pix. When Becky got off workat 5 p.m. I took her back to Myers she was delighted to see it. Perhaps we were the last to see it.Coming
The bird is still foraging. We just left after a long show at 4:15.

?Hi all,
Here is a link to the clip I took of Purple Sandpiper this afternoon. At times
it came as close as 6 feet from me. It moved very fast in general. At one time
the surfer had left his surfboard at the edge of the lake and the bird foraged
in between the boards. Quite a cute bird!

If you missed it yesterday, it looks like the PURPLE SANDPIPER will be
putting on an encore performance today. It is currently foraging on the
north side of the spit at Myers Point out near the tip.

A few minutes ago a PURPLE SANDPIPER tried to land on the spit at Myers
Point on Cayuga Lake. It circled a half dozen times as it was harried by
airborn gulls, finally managed to land at the tip, but was gone a moment
later. I'm not sure if it headed back out on the lake or might be hiding on
one

I can still remember getting my legs splashed by the cold Atlantic Ocean while
I was looking at my first ever Purple Sandpiper in Ocean City, Maryland in 2006.

I made another run to Fairhaven State Park today after not finding Purple
Sandpiper at the Irondequoit Bay outlet. The PURPLE SANDPIPER was feeding
with a DUNLIN along the south side of the east/west running breakwall.
From Fairhaven I drove to the Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge area. The
